![]() "In The Light" by Diana Mary Sharpton Photography Introduction: “I won’t lie to you. We aren’t going to ride off into the sunset together and have everything fixed overnight. I know that, and I think you do too. But I’m willing to work at it, if you are. I do love you. I mean that with every cell in my body, every breath that I take. I think you’re worth it. I think we’re worth it. I think you could be the great love of my life” ― Victoria Michaels I have gone through a very difficult year at work. Actually, it started three years ago. All I can say is that bullying exists and it is extremely painful and debilitating when the person inflicting the pain is a manager. They have the power and the employee basically is at their mercy until they find another position, if they can. What if you can’t? You have to pay the bills. Think about it, how would you feel and what would you do if something like that happened to you? Bullying is aggressive behavior against another for power and control. An article by Dr. Gray Namie states that people that are targeted in the work place have certain personality traits. His article is found on: http://www.workplacebullying.org/tag/bullying-statistics/ “ABOUT BULLIED TARGETS in 2014 Finally, we asked the American public what type of person is targeted for abusive mistreatment in the workplace. Though this was a short, not exhaustive, list of personality traits, the results are clear. Those who claimed to have been aware that workplace bullying happens, believe that the overwhelming majority of individuals targeted possess positive attributes. That is, the same respondents who believed that targets are mostly incapable of defending themselves against bullying assaults believe targets are kind, cooperative and agreeable. Perhaps these same traits render the guileless person vulnerable to unpredictable attacks. This Survey does not provide a way to draw the causal link between the traits and targets’ ability to defend themselves. It is noteworthy that only 6% of targets are considered abusers themselves.” In the state of Texas this is allowed, believe it or not. It is an "at will" state and this means you can be dismissed without cause. So unless you have a case of discrimination, a manager will get away with this type of behavior, time and time again. Now, you can also hire an attorney and sue for wrongful termination based on a case of discrimination; however there is no law of protection at the State or Federal level against simple bullying, only if it reaches a level of discrimination. I personally believe that a case needs to be taken up to the Supreme Court. Laws need to be in place to correct this behavior in the work place it is not acceptable, at any level. There is no excuse for bad behavior. It should be a criminal act of violence. All of this said, I did have wonderful moments, like when I went to Australia. It was brilliant. I met some people that I care for deeply, those moment can never be replaced. This song reminded me of that good time and wishing for more. I love Sugar even in the bad times... Diana Mary Sharpton“I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you simply, without problems or pride: I love you in this way because I do not know any other way of loving but this, in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand, so intimate that when I fall asleep your eyes close.” Categories
