Meatloaf and Chilled Dirty Martini
Sunday dinner, a constant problem for some,
Which requires imagination; a true cooking “thumb”,
He hates the smell of meatloaf pathetically gone awry.
A special recipe, she searches for fun on a cooking try.
Complaining” it’s heavy”; meat, eggs, bread blended in,
He even tried making this dish in hopes for a tasteful win.
Therefore, this Sunday an aspiration launches,
To construct a simple dish, her darling embraces!

She starts with a pound of turkey ground,
This is blended with ¼ lb. of 95% sirloin round.
Oatmeal, soaked in skin milk, to substitute heavy dry bread,
And use one egg vs. three, instead.
A sweet purple onion, adding cilantro chopped fine,
And coarse lemon pepper, laden salt with a hint of cayenne.
Combining these ingredients, in a square 8’’pan,
That cooks a full hour, until a slice can stand.

Sautéed; long stem mushrooms, minced jalapenos with a garlic clove,
It’s added into brown gravy, set to the side, on the gas burning stove.
Fresh buttered mashed potatoes, romaine lettuce crowned in chucks of blue cheese,
And, yes, a splash of Raspberry vinaigrette, just to please.
A chilled Dirty Martini ready to pour,
The moment he walks through that front door.
Now she sits with anticipation and waits,
A conversation she contemplates.

What should I say? What words do I choose?
Finally, as the door swings open,
She jumps to her feet with a brilliant notion!
”Baby, I have made something special this time,
So please, my love, just keep an open mind?”
It’s delivered with that sexy, yet sultry smile.

“I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you simply, without problems or pride: I love you in this way because I do not know any other way of loving but this, in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand, so intimate that when I fall asleep your eyes close.”
